Cosmetic dentistry is generally used to refer to any dental work that improves the appearance (though not necessarily the functionality) of teeth, gums and/or bite. It primarily focuses on improvement of dental aesthetics in colour, position, shape, size, alignment and overall smile and appearance.

Dental Bonding

Dental bonding as the name implies bonds a similar tooth material to a lost tooth structure. It serves both as a cosmetic and restorative procedure.

This can be done to repair broken tooth, space closure between two front teeth, replacing a missing tooth, fractured or cracked tooth, recreating a natural shape to an imperfect or stained tooth.

The most commonly used materials for such repair works are the composite.

Dental Fillings

Dental filling materials are used to fill cavities that are caused by decay and caries of the tooth. These filling materials help to restore the lost function of the tooth. Apart from restoring the function of tooth, it also helps prevent any further decay on the tooth.

Materials used for fillings include gold, amalgam (silver), composite resins, glass ionomer, porcelain.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns otherwise commonly called as a cap on tooth are worn to repair broken, cracked, decayed or root canal treated teeth & implants. It can be used to cover discoloured and abnormally shaped teeth also. They can be done as a single unit or multiple units as a bridge. Crown & bridges enables function & aesthetics of a normal natural tooth/teeth.

Dental Implants

Today, dental implants are paving their way for a comfortable lifestyle for us. They are designed in such a way that they mimic the functions of the natural tooth very closely. They enable the patients to eat normally and speak clearly. Patients with dental implants get their smiles restored with confidence.

Periodontal scaling and gum re-alignment surgeries

Scaling and polishing, along with gum realignment surgeries are done by the periodontists to remove tartar and stains, shift the gums up if they tend to recede down far behind the gum lines. This helps to improve the smile of the patient. Bone deficiencies and improper oral hygiene measures are the main reason for such gum recession.
